Classical & acoustic recording at Symphony Hall

Symphony Recording Sessions

A performance-focused recording experience combining the acoustics of Symphony Hall, a Shigeru Kawai SK-7 Concert Grand, and carefully prepared audio and video capture.

About

About Symphony Recording Sessions

Symphony Recording Sessions is a recording service by Symphony Acoustic Studio, for classical and acoustic musicians who want to capture their performances in a space designed around live sound.

From solo piano and voice to strings and chamber music, it offers a focused setting for a recording that feels as much like a performance as it sounds.

Why Symphony Recording Sessions

A recording space built around the performance.

Classical music is shaped by the performer, the instrument and the room around them. Each session is built around all three.

The room
Symphony Hall’s natural acoustics, and a refined visual setting.
The instrument
A Shigeru Kawai SK-7 concert grand.
The capture
Multitrack audio, room recording and synchronized video, with microphones and positions set for your repertoire.

More than a recording of what was played: a record of the performance, the instrument and the space.

A recital in the studio hall: a pianist lit at the grand piano on stage, the audience seated in silhouette, tall timber acoustic walls rising into a darkened ceiling.
The hall's ceiling: a curved dark canopy set with points of light, above slatted timber walls and stone fins.
